NFL playoff preview: Buffalo finally takes down the Chiefs? Ex-NFL star says yes

Robinson, who won the Super Bowl with Green Bay in 1996, believes Josh Allen could finally break Buffalo’s playoff losing streak against the Chiefs.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. β€” We’re just two days away from learning who will play in the Super Bowl as the AFC and NFC championship games will be played on Sunday.Β

In the AFC, Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills will hit the road to face Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and the reigning champion Kansas City Chiefs. Buffalo defeated the Chiefs in the regular season, but the Bills have lost three consecutive playoff games to Kansas City.Β

Former Panthers player and Super Bowl champion Eugene Robinson believes this could be the year Buffalo breaks through and takes down the champion Chiefs.Β

“There’s something about Josh Allen this year that’s different from previous years,” Robinson said. “There’s a motivation behind him willing his team to win. I think he’s going to win the MVP because of that last game against the Baltimore Ravens. He’s really, really good and he’s really hungry.”Β

Robinson pointed to Buffalo’s regular season win over the Chiefs as evidence they aren’t afraid of taking on Kansas City.Β

“The mystique is gone for the Bills,” Robinson said. “It’s like, ‘You don’t scare us anymore.’ Guys in the locker room say, ‘Hey man, we beat these guys early in the season.'”Β

In the NFC Championship Game, Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders will face NFC East rival Philadelphia for a spot in the big game. Should Washington win, it will be the team’s first Super Bowl appearance since the 1991-92 season, when they defeated the Bills in what was the first of four straight Super Bowl defeats for Buffalo.Β

Robinson is all in on the Jayden Daniels hype after his performances against Tampa Bay and Detroit.Β

“The quarterback is unstoppable,” he said. “They were just dominant because of that kid Daniels, he’s just that good.”Β

And much like the AFC title game, Robinson believes a regular season win by the Commanders over Philadelphia could boost their confidence even higher.Β

“The Commanders don’t care, they really don’t care,” Robinson said of playing a team many people perceive is better. “Their coaches don’t care and the players don’t care about how good you’re supposed to be. They went to Detroit and destroyed Detroit.”Β

When it comes to the Super Bowl, the three-time Pro Bowler says it’s going to be a rematch from 33 years ago.Β

“I think I’m going to go with Bills vs. Commanders,” Robinson said. “Who’s winning the Super Bowl? I’m going to go with the Bills finally.”Β
