Nemechek will be looking for nothing but a top 10 to keep up his solid start to the season.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. β John Hunter Nemechek will feature iconic pop group Backstreet Boys on his car in the NASCAR race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday.
The one-race deal was announced on Tuesday between Legacy Motor Club, Live Nation, and Vibee. Nemechek drives the No. 42 Toyota full-time for the team.
The sponsorship promotes the Backstreet Boys’ Las Vegas residency in July 2025. The group’s residency is known as “Into the Millennium” to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the albumΒ Millennium. Backstreet Boys are best known for their songs “I Want it That Way” and “Everybody,” among others. The group was a cornerstone of popular music in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Legacy Motor Club promoted the partnership with Jimmie Johnson, the team’s owner and seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, handing a CD player to Nemechek as the band’s music plays.Β
“We had successful campaigns with Guns Nβ Roses and Creed in the past, and Backstreet Boys will be just as fun,” Johnson said in a news release. “The No. 42 Toyota Camry looks really cool and we canβt wait for fans to see the Backstreet Boys represented on track.β
Nemechek has three top 15 finishes in the season’s first four races, including a fifth-place finish in the Daytona 500. It’s the best four-race span in Nemechek’s career.
Legacy Motor Club has two full-time rides, with Erik Jones piloting the No. 43 Toyota. Johnson also drives the No. 84 Toyota on a part-time basis.
The Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is on Sunday, March 16.
