Hornets end 10-game losing streak, beat Suns 115-104



The Hornets’ last win was against the Indiana Pacers on Dec. 8.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. β€” LaMelo Ball scored 32 points as the Charlotte Hornets ended a 10-game losing streak with a decisive win over the Phoenix Suns.

The Hornets (8-27) used a lopsided second quarter to springboard the win. Charlotte outscored Phoenix (16-19) 37-17 in that period and held a 59-46 lead at halftime.Β 

Phoenix pulled within five points by the start of the fourth quarter but Charlotte held on for the 115-104 win.Β 

The Hornets entered Tuesday’s game with just one win in their last 19 contests. Charlotte was in playoff contention in November before the long string of losses. The Hornets are now 14th in the Eastern Conference ahead of only the Washington Wizards, who the Hornets lost twice to in December.

Ball led the Hornets with 32 points and 10 rebounds. Miles Bridges scored 21 points. Nick Richards had a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Devin Booker led the Suns with 39 points and 10 assists. Kevin Durant had 26 points.

Shooting percentage was once again a concern for the Hornets. Charlotte players made just 28.8% of their shots from the field, including 27.7% on 3-pointers. The Suns made just 24.2% of their shots from behind the arc.

The Hornets’ last win was against the Indiana Pacers on Dec. 8.Β 

Charlotte will look to keep the winning going against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday.
