The former South Carolina State head football coach served as interim AD at the school in 2023 while he was in the final month of his coaching career.
ORANGEBURG, S.C. β South Caroilna State has been searching for a new athletics director after the previous AD, Nathan Cochran, left after a little more than a year on the job to “pursue other opportunities” according to an official release by the school.
In the meantime, S.C. State has once again tabbed Buddy Pough to serve as interim athletics director.Β
A two-time SC State graduate, Pough served as the school’s head football coach for 22 years and is the winningest head football coach in S.C. State history.
This will mark Pough’s third stint as interim athletics director at the Orangeburg-based university.
In November of 2023, when Pough was wrapping up his legendary coaching career at his alma mater, he also served as interim athletics director after the resignation of Keshia Campbell.Β
In 2001, Pough was named interim athletics director a week after being named the head football coach at S.C. State.
