The team hosted an open training at Bank of America Stadium ahead of their match against Atlanta United
CHARLOTTE, N.C. β The fourth season in Charlotte FC’s history is underway as the club prepares for its home opener on Saturday, March 1. Ahead of the home match, the team opened their doors at Bank of America Stadium for supporters to get a first look at the group.
Dozens of fans sat in the stands as the team warmed up, went through drills and played a small-sided scrimmage. Players also ended the open training session by signing fan autographs.
Charlotte FC has made its home environment a staple: bringing one of the top attendances in MLS weekly to Charlotte.
“It’s crazy it’s loud,” said Charlotte FC defender Tim Ream. “Coming here last year, seeing videos and seeing what the fans and the atmosphere’s like, it’s not like anything I’ve experienced anywhere. To have that here, for us, for the city, it’s incredible. You come out of the handshakes and everyone’s turned around and jumping up and down, it’s electric and something we definitely cherish.”
Ream, who joined Charlotte FC midway through the 2024 season, said he hasn’t heard much about what a home opener in Charlotte will look like but wants to be surprised and experience it fully for himself.
Charlotte FC opened its season on the road in Seattle, settling for a 2-2 draw. Wilfried Zaha had an excused absence from the club and missed the opening match against the Sounders, and was not back for Monday’s open training session. In a statement, the club say they anticipate he will make his official debut with Charlotte FC this coming weekend. They welcome Atlanta United for their second match of the 2025 campaign.Β
