2025 Keep Pounding Classic to feature West Charlotte vs. Grimsley



This year’s event will be a doubleheader featuring three Charlotte-area high schools.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. β€” The 2025 Keep Pounding Classic at Bank of America Stadium will feature three schools from the Charlotte area, including two reigning state champions.Β 

This year’s event, which kicks off Aug. 22 in Uptown, gets started with Hough vs. South Pointe at 4 p.m. That contest will be followed by a matchup between defending 3A champions West Charlotte battling 4A champion Grimsley at 8 p.m.Β 

General admission tickets are $8 and available now through Ticketmaster.Β 

β€œThe Carolina Panthers are proud to partner with Belk to kick off the high school football season with two exciting matchups that highlight the important role football plays in bringing communities together,” Kristi Coleman, CEO of Tepper Sports & Entertainment and president of the Panthers, said. β€œThis year’s Keep Pounding High School Classic will be a great showcase of school spirit and competitive play, featuring four talented programs from both North and South Carolina.”

Hough enters the 2025 season as a preseason title contender coming off an impressive 12-2 campaign that saw the Huskies make it to the state semifinals. Meanwhile, South Pointe will challenge for an eighth state championship on the heels of an 11-3 season that saw the Stallions run to the state semifinals.Β 

Grimsley enters the Keep Pounding Classic ranked No. 16 in Sports Illustrated’s “Way Too Early” high school poll after its undefeated season in 2024. West Charlotte brings back 21 starts from last year’s 3A title team that finished 13-2 overall.Β
