CHARLOTTE, N.C. β Less than a month before the NBA Trade Deadline, the Charlotte Hornets have made a move.
A league source confirms that backup center Nick Richards has been dealt to Phoenix. ESPN’s Shams Charania was the first to report the news.
With an 8-28 record nearly halfway through the season, it seems Charlotte is more intent on getting picks than getting better.
In return for Richards and a 2025 2nd Rd pick, Charlotte will receive guard Josh Okogie and three second-round picks from the Suns (2026, 2031, 2031).

A league source confirms they are Denver’s 2026 and 2031 second-round picks, plus the Suns’ 2031 second-round pick.
Richards, whom the Hornets acquired in a draft night trade from New Orleans in 2020, has played 21 games in 2024-25, making 9 starts. He’s averaging 8.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.
Okogie, a former first-round pick of Minnesota, averages 6.0 points in 14.0 minutes per game for Phoenix.
