Kealy sparks Gaston College’s advance in World Series



YUMA, Ariz. β€” With a school-best 29th-consecutive win, the Gaston College softball team advanced into the winner’s bracket of the NJCAA Div. 1 World Series on Wednesday night.

The Rhinos mercy-ruled Rose State, 11-1 in five innings to make it to the next round, where they will play NW Florida State on Thursday night at 6:45 p.m., ET.

Grace Kealy hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to get things started, and Gaston College kept partying, scoring three more in the second and five in the fourth.

The program, coached by Mike Steuerwald, has won a school-record 62 games this season, losing just three times, en route to a No. 10 ranking in the final NJCAA regular-season poll.
