Bryce Young hosts kids’ football camp | Carolina Panthers

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young put on a free football camp for 300 kids on Saturday morning at Johnson C. Smith University.

The camp was sponsored by CareSource, and was more than just about football.

Young’s philanthropic organization, Young 9 Foundation, is focused on mental health.

So as a break from the football drills, campers paused to focus on breathing, and practice meditation.

“I had a couple of kids after that come up to me ask more questions on it and share some things,” Young said. “That’s something that means so much to me to be able to give people tools that stretch beyond the football field. I’m very grateful to be in that situation.”

Panthers Head Coach Dave Canales attended the camp, and several of Young’s teammates were on hand to help out.

Young wants to use his platform and foundation to make mental health a more regular conversation in the NFL.

“That’s definitely something I would love to do,” Young said. “There’s a lot of guys in the league that are doing the same thing, advocating in their communities and giving back.”

The Panthers will hold mandatory minicamp Tuesday-Thursday in Uptown.
