Premier Lacrosse League brings out fans in Charlotte again.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. β€” With the sport of lacrosse continuing to grow in popularity nationwide, and in the Charlotte area, Premier Lacrosse League once again visited the Queen City, much to the thrill of local fans.

The league travels to each of its eight teams’ “home” cities.

This was homecoming weekend for the Carolina Chaos, which opened with a win on Friday night over the Denver Outlaws in which goalkeeper Blaze Riorden broke his own league record by collecting 25 saves.

The Chaos have built a legion of fans, which are literally called “Red Legion,” who have created one of the league’s top supporters sections.

“Last Β year, Charlotte across both events was our highest-attended weekend of the year,” Danny Passovoy, the league’s VP of Ticketing and Fan Experience said. “They just show out and we love coming here. We want to keep coming back and I don’t see any reason why we wouldn’t.”

The weekend also marked a homecoming for Utah Archers midfielder Colby Barsz, who played at Weddington High School.

“It’s awesome. It’s a unique experience,” Barsz said. “Getting to see all the fans in an area I grew up is unlike anything I could dream of. It’s awesome to see the game grow in Charlotte.”
