The renovation of this weatherboard home was a labour of love for its owners.
βWe moved here from the inner city on a whim during the lockdowns and rented for two years before we bought this home,β says Weir. The wall panels in the lounge are painted in Porterβs Paints βExplorer Blueβ.Credit: Armelle Habib

What we did
βWe completely revamped it on a tight timeline and budget,β says Weir. βLuckily, Charlieβs very handy, so we did most of the tiling, plastering, painting, sanding, concreting and landscaping ourselves.β
Favourite room
βWe spend most of our time in the kitchen and dining area,β says Weir. βI love our dining table, which has been handed down through generations of my family, and how the space opens out onto the deck and garden.β
The βhood
βItβs the perfect fusion of farmland, bush, beach and wineries and itβs close enough to commute into the city. Nordie Cafe is great for weekend breakfast and coffee.β
Future plans
βThe dream scenario is adding an adultsβ retreat upstairs that will overlook our neighbourβs vineyard,β says Weir.
Best advice
βIf youβre sentimental, surround yourself with collections of pieces you love β things made by your family and friends or collected on travels.β
