CHARLOTTE, N.C. β The Charlotte Hornets have made the playoffs.
The NBA Summer League playoffs, that is.
While the team would like to be in the actual NBA Playoffs, positioning itself to win any sort of championship these days is a big win.
Charlotte defeated San Antonio 106-81 on Thursday night in Las Vegas.
The 25-point win took the Hornets point-differential in the league from +8.7 to +12.7.
The Summer League takes the top four teams in terms of point differential and places them into a semifinal round.
The Hornets, led by assistant coach Chris Jent, were clearly playing with that in mind, building a 22-point halftime lead.
Charlotteβs top draft choice, Kon Knueppel, scored 19 points as did second-year guard KJ Simpson.
Damion Baugh came off of the bench to score 18 points.
The Hornets will now play in Saturdayβs semifinal round, hoping to make Sundayβs championship game.
