BESSEMER CITY, N.C. β Several facilities at Bessemer City High School were vandalized early Monday morning, including two by a fire at the baseball field’s press box and concession stand that has been ruled arson, according to Gaston County Schools.
The fire, which originated in the lower-level concession stand, caused damage to the upper-level press box. While the structure remains standing, officials said the interior damage is significant, and repairs will be necessary. A cost estimate and timeline for repairs are not yet available.
In addition to the baseball facility, vandals damaged two concession stands at the football field, buses parked on campus, and several front office locations. Most of the damage can be cleaned up, though one activity bus sustained significant damage, according to the district. Front office locations have been restored to order.
