LEGO leak reveals next Nintendo set, and it’s an arcade classic | Gaming | Entertainment

LEGO and Nintendo’s partnership feels like a match made in heaven with sets based on Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda and even Animal Crossing all currently available to buy. However, the next set to come out of the partnership has just leaked, and it’s one that OG fans of the company are going to absolutely love.

As spotted on Reddit, an early LEGO leak shows images of what appears to be a Donkey Kong Arcade game, based on the original cabinet released back in 1981. Famously, this was the very first appearance of Mario, back when he was known as Jumpman.

The image was posted on r/Legoleak with the original source cited as Gupytex. It shows a replica of that original arcade cabinet with the Donkey Kong logo spelled across the top.

Through its window, we can see the iconic layout of a Donkey Kong level with girders and ladders for Jumpmap to scale. At the top, the titular Donkey Kong can be seen guarding a captive Princess Peach while hammers and barrels are thrown down the course.

At the bottom, we can spot a couple of joysticks and buttons, which could potentially hint at some sort of interactivity present in the set. This is something that we’ve seen present on quite a few of the LEGO Nintendo sets before, like the Mario Kart set and the classic Super Mario Bros set.

According to the post, this set will include 1,367 pieces and will retail for $200. Based on current LEGO prices here in the UK, we can likely expect to see it arrive at around the £175 to £180 mark, although the Danish toy maker is yet to confirm anything officially.

As for the release date, the leaker claims that LEGO fans can expect to see this one hit shelves on August 1, 2026.

Plenty of retro gaming fans are calling this a day one purchase. “This is a first day purchase for me,” reads one Reddit comment.

Another adds: “Really good use of those fence pieces. I also love how they kept the janky cabinet art.”

However, some shoppers lament that the style and shape of the build doesn’t quite match up to the original cabinet. “Cute, though I guess I was kind of hoping it would be a model of the actual arcade cabinet,” reads one gamer’s comment.

A second critic writes: “Need it. Just wish it was shaped like the Pac-Man set so that they would look similar on a shelf.” However, as other Redditors are quick to note, most arcade cabinets come in different shapes and sizes in the real world, so you can still consider this design to fit in.
