Hendrick Motorsports mourns the loss of Jon Edwards, their director of racing communications.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. β Hendrick Motorsports, the winningest team in NASCAR history, is mourning the loss of Jon Edwards, the team’s director of racing communications.
The team noted that Edwards, 53, was a longtime friend whose remarkable gift for building strong and lasting relationships made him a respected figure in the garage. The team did not state a cause of death.
“Iβm devastated by the loss of my dear friend, Jon,” Jeff Gordon, the four-time NASCAR champion and vice chairman of Hendrick Motorsports, said. “He was one of the most loyal, hardworking and selfless people Iβve ever known, and I will be forever grateful for his immeasurable impact on my life and my career.”
Gordon noted that Edwards was with the team for nearly three decades.
NASCAR media personalities also offered their condolences for Edwards’s passing. Fox Sports reporter Bob Pockrass said that Edwards “treated everyone like they were gold.” He noted that Edwards currently worked as Kyle Larson’s primary public relations person.
“Jon was the gold standard,” Jordan Biachi, a reporter with The Athletic, said on X. “There was no one like him. I’m going miss our conversations.”
