Bowman missed the past four races with vertigo after exiting his car during the Cup Series race at Circuit of the Americas on March 1.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. β Alex Bowman has been medically cleared to return to the NASCAR Cup Series after missing four races with vertigo, Hendrick Motorsports announced on Thursday.Β
Bowman’s return will come at Sunday’s Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Bowman has been sidelined with vertigo after exiting his car early during the Cup Series race at Circuit of the Americas on March 1.Β
βIβm grateful for the support Iβve had from Hendrick Motorsports, my sponsor Ally, our fans and the medical team throughout this process,β Bowman said in a team release. βItβs been tough being out of the car, but we all wanted to make sure I was 100% ready before returning. I feel really good, and Iβm excited about being at the track with my team and getting back to racing.β
Hendrick Motorsports said Bowman was cleared after turning laps at the new Ten Tenths Motor Club in a street car before participating in pit stop practice and simulator testing. He also underwent a medical evaluation before getting final clearance.Β
Hendrick used several drivers to substitute for Bowman, including Myatt Snider, Anthony Alfredo and Justin Allgaier.Β
Bowman is an eight-time winner in the Cup Series. His most recent victory came in the 2024 Chicago Street Race. He’s currently 36th in Cup Series points with a best finish of 23rd at EchoPark Speedway.Β
