Lessons for life
Jodie now celebrates beauty no matter what season of life she may be in.
For Jodie, being in a workshop with other women going through a similar journey provided her with a level of comfort she couldnβt find anywhere else. When she was diagnosed with cancer for the second time last year, Jodie was again thankful for her Look Good Feel Better support team β and the life lessons sheβd learned from that first round.
βWhen I was re-diagnosed, those things that Iβd held onto that I didnβt necessarily realise came to the forefront again,β she reflects. βJust that confidence in the thought that itβs OK to feel good about myself.β
While Jodie acknowledges that going through cancer treatment can make you feel critical of wanting to feel good and putting effort into make-up and skincare, sheβs also aware of how powerful you feel when you take the time to look after yourself.
βItβs so valuable because beauty is more than skin deep,β she says. βHow you feel as a person, make-up and skin care really can contribute to such a big part of that.β
Since undergoing cancer treatment, Jodie now celebrates beauty no matter what season of life she may be in. βIβve found there are days when youβre just going about your day-to-day errands, but there are also moments where you want to pop on a lippy and be vibrant.β
When she wants to add a little pep to her step, Jodieβs go-to lipstick shade is the Revlon Super Lustrous Uncut Ruby. βI love the pop of colour that it has,β she says. βI pop it on and it just brings a smile to my face. Just like an uncut ruby, Iβve got potential. Iβm going to shine.β
With no government funding, Look Good Feel Better relies on the generosity of its sponsors to provide support to people undergoing cancer treatment. Revlon has been supporting the charity for more than 30 years and this is its fourth year running its International Lipstick Day donation campaign, where between July 10 to August 6, Revlon will be donating $2 from every Super Lustrous Lipstick sold in Chemist Warehouse to Look Good Feel Better.
βThereβs something really special about the work they do,β Jodie says of Look Good Feel Better. βThe investment in you as a person and in your value as a person isβ¦ Iβve never encountered anything like it.β
Look Good Feel Better is free and available to any person undergoing any treatment for any cancer, anywhere in Australia. Visit lgfb.org.au or phone 1800 650 960 for more information or to register for the program.
