Biffle’s Mooresville estate was burglarized just weeks after the NASCAR legend and six others were killed in a plane crash.
MOORESVILLE, N.C. β Burglars reportedly stole $30,000 in cash from the home of NASCAR legend Greg Biffle just weeks after Biffle and six others were killed in a plane crash in Statesville, according to a police report obtained by WCNC Charlotte.Β
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to Biffle’s estate on Doolie Road a little after 6 p.m. on Jan. 8. According to the incident report, $30,000 in cash and a backpack were reported missing from the home. Biffle, his wife Cristina, and two of his children were among seven people who died in a plane crash at Statesville Regional Airport on Dec. 18.Β
No arrests have been announced in connection with the investigation. It’s unclear if detectives have identified any suspects or persons of interest at this time.Β
A public remembrance event honoring the victims of the plane crash is scheduled for Friday at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte. Doors open at 10 a.m. with the service starting at 11. Tickets are not required. The service will be livestreamed for family and friends who aren’t able to attend.Β

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. NTSB board member Michael Graham confirmedΒ that someone on the plane sent a text message to a family member about an emergency landing moments before the crash. Officials say the plane crashed approximately 10 minutes after takeoff.Β
A preliminary report is expected, while the final report determining the probable cause will take 12 to 18 months.Β
