Charlotte FC loss at home on April 26, 2025

The black and blue couldn’t answer a second-half goal from the Revolution.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. β€” Charlotte FC racked up plenty of yellow cards during its home match Saturday. Those, however, do not win soccer matches.

Instead of defending the home pitch at Bank of America Stadium, the black and blue ended up falling to the visiting team: the New England Revolution.

Neither side found the net during the first 45 minutes of the match. Instead, a defender from both teams each got a yellow card: Adilson Malanda for Charlotte and Brayan Ceballos for New England.

It seemed like for much of the second half, there wouldn’t be a score for either team. Brandt Bronico, a midfielder for the black and blue, was handed a yellow card at the 70-minute mark.

Just seven minutes later, New England midfielder Carles Gil scored with an assist from forward Luca Langoni. It would be the first – and only goal – of the match, as Charlotte FC could not answer for the remainder of regulation nor during nine minutes of stoppage time tacked on.

In the end, Charlotte FC lost the match and dropped three points in the MLS standings.

The team is on a four-game away stretch starting next week. On May 3, they take on the Columbus Crew with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m. They only get three days of rest, though, as they’ll face North Carolina FC on Tuesday, May 6, for the Round of 32 in the U.S. Open Cup. Kickoff for that match is at 7 p.m. at WakeMed Soccer Park.

After that, Charlotte will take on Nasville SC on Saturday, May 10, with a kickoff time of 8:30 p.m. The last road game in this stretch is on Wednesday, May 14, against Orlando City SC. Kickoff is back to the usual 7:30 p.m. for that match.

Charlotte is back home on Saturday, May 17, to take on Chicago Fire FC with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff time. Daimler Truck North America is presenting a special giveaway night, with the first fans to arrive receiving a limited-edition party shirt.
