CHARLOTTE, N.C. β€” The Charlotte Hornets waived guard Isaiah Wong on Thursday, making the two-way player a free agent.Β

Wong appeared in 20 games for Charlotte this season, averaging 6 points and 13 minutes per game. Wong recorded 16 points per game with the Greensboro Swarm, the Hornets’ G League affiliate.Β

He originally signed with the Hornets on Dec. 2, 2024. Wong was originally drafted by the Indiana Pacers in the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft. He appeared in just one NBA game for Indiana before signing with the Salt Lake City Stars.Β

The Hornets are currently on hiatus for the NBA All-Star break. They’ll return to action against the Los Angeles Lakers on Feb. 19. This will be a particularly interesting game, as it’s the first time Charlotte will face the Lakers since the Mark Williams trade was rescinded over a reported failed physical.Β

Charlotte was supposed to receive rookie Dalton Knecht and Cam Reddish along with multiple draft picks in exchange for Williams. The Lakers made the trade after sending big man Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks in a blockbuster trade for Luka Doncic.Β
