Charlotte restaurant trolls Hornets losing streak: ‘Tickets should be free’

The Hornets have lost their last three games by a combined 131 points.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. β€” A popular Dilworth restaurant that isn’t afraid to call out the local sports teams is back at it, trolling the Charlotte Hornets for a losing streak that’s seen them not even be competitive.Β

The sign in front of Dilworth Neighborhood Grille has a short but simple message for the Hornets: “Lose 3 games by 130 pts, tickets should be free.”Β

It’s been a struggle for the Hornets since the All-Star Break, with Charlotte winning just once β€” a highly anticipated game against the Lakers after the failed Mark Williams trade β€”and losing four times. The Hornets will have a chance to end the losing streak Thursday night in Dallas, as they take on the Luka-less Mavs.Β

It’s not the first time the restaurant’s gone after a team for being terrible. Last spring, the sign pleaded with Panthers owner David Tepper to let the coach and general manager make the team’s first-round draft pick instead. Once word of the sign got around, Tepper stopped by and shared a lighthearted moment with some employees.Β

“He wanted to know who did the sign,” owner Matt Wohlfarth said. “He seemed really nice and he was joking around. He shook hands with the manager and was giving him hell about his Eagles hat. You know, you don’t really know someone until you actually know them, right?”
