Former NFL star Captain Munnerlyn named head coach of Charlotte high school



CHARLOTTE, N.C. β€” Former Carolina Panthers cornerback Captain Munnerlyn will be introduced as the new head football coach at Julius Chambers High School on Friday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools confirmed.Β 

Munnerlyn, who played 10 years in the NFL, was drafted by the Panthers in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He also starred at the University of South Carolina under head coach Steve Spurrier, earning All-SEC honors.Β 

The former NFL pro spent the last two seasons as an assistant at Myers Park High School coaching defensive backs. He will replace Brandon Wiggins, who spent three seasons as the head coach.Β
