The next wave of upgrades includes new seating, wider concourses, and more court views from concession areas.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. β The second phase of the Re!magine Spectrum Center project will be revealed in Uptown on Monday.Β
Among the expected upgrades are wider concourses, more seating and a new design features that give fans a better view of the Charlotte Hornets’ court, even from concession areas.Β
It’s all part of a multimillion dollar effort to modernize the arena, which sees over 1 million visitors annually. The Hornets say it’s not just a facelift, it’s about rethinking how fans experience sports, concerts and live events.Β
Donna Julian, the executive vice president of Hornets Sports and Entertainment, says Spectrum Center is vital for Uptown, pointing to the 1.2 million fans visiting the arena annually.Β
“From an ownership perspective, it has to be a world-class facility, but for the citizens of Charlotte and the community, they have their memories,” Julian said. “From a concert to a Hornets game, they deserve a top-notch facility.”
Monday’s event comes about a month after the Hornets broke ground on their new practice facility adjacent to the Spectrum Center. The Novant Health Performance Center will feature team administration offices and retail space in addition to practice courts for the Hornets. The retail sites will be built on a public plaza near the intersection of Caldwell and Fifth streets. The Hornets hope to open the facility ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season.Β
