CHARLOTTE, N.C. β A quick-moving thunderstorm has caused a lightning delay at PGA Quail Hollow.Β
While not severe, the storm is still strong and will bring impacts to the golf course including heavy rain, lightning and small hail. It could produce wind gusts up to 40 mph.
“Lightning delay at PGA wonβt last too long,” WCNC Weather Impact Chief Meteorologist Brad Panovich posted on social media. “Some small hail possible.”
Spectators are encouraged to seek shelter.
After heavy rain Monday, scattered showers and thunderstorms continue to move across the Carolinas on Tuesday and Wednesday. While there is less rain compared to Monday, quick-moving showers could still impact the golf course. As well, a flooding threat lingers across the Carolinas because of already-saturated soils and elevated creek and river levels.
