NASCAR pushes start time of Daytona 500 up due to weather



Sunday’s race may be impacted by the weather, causing event organizers to move the start time up.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. β€” With the threat of rain looming, NASCARΒ moved up the start time one hour for Sunday’s Daytona 500 to 1:30 p.m. EST.

Daytona International Speedway will open parking lots at 6 a.m.

Denny Hamlin will try to win his fourth Daytona 500 while defending race winnerΒ William Byron goes for a repeat, with 2024Β NASCAR champion Joey Logano also among the star drivers in the field for the β€œThe Great American Race” at Daytona International Speedway.

Due to increased security measures, Daytona International Speedway encouraged all fans to arrive early for the event.

The race will be aired on Fox and Fox Deportes. Mike Joy, Clint Bowyer, and Kevin Harvick are in the booth. Larry McReynolds partners with Joy, Bowyer and Harvick to offer analysis. Jamie Little, Regan Smith andΒ Josh Sims cover stories from pit road. MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio offer broadcasts and the race will be streamed on the Fox Sports app.

With the threat of rain looming, NASCAR moved up the start time one hour for Sunday’s race to 1:30 p.m. EST.

Chase Briscoe earned Toyota its first Daytona 500 pole when he topped qualifying Wednesday night. Austin Cindric will start outside of Briscoe as Team Penske starts one of its Fords on the front row for the second consecutive year.

It is the first Daytona 500 pole for Briscoe, who moved to Joe Gibbs Racing this season when Stewart-Haas Racing closed at the end of 2024.

Busch and Blaney are listed as co-favorites (+1200) to win the race, per BetMGM Sportsbook.
