CHARLOTTE, N.C. β The Carolina Panthers released veteran running back Miles Sanders on Tuesday after he spent two seasons with the team.Β
Sanders signed with Carolina as a free agent in 2023 but was passed by Chuba Hubbard as the team’s No. 1 back. His status as the backup was cemented when Hubbard signed a long-term extension last season.Β
Sanders’ release will create $5.23 million in cap space, according to The Athletic’s Joe Person, who reported that the team was hoping to bring Sanders back on a more team-friendly salary. Instead, he’ll now be a free agent and the Panthers will pursue a stablemate for Hubbard.Β
In two seasons with the Panthers, Sanders had 184 carries for 637 yards and three touchdowns. He also had one touchdown catch with Carolina.Β
