South Carolina State falls at home to Delaware State 76-75 on a last-second layup



In their MEAC home opener, the Bulldogs and Hornets went down to the wire with the visitors handing the home team its first league setback of the season.

ORANGEBURG, S.C. β€” Kaseem Watson had 23 points and made a layup at the buzzer to rally Delaware State to a 76-75 victory over South Carolina State on Saturday.

Watson shot 9 of 12 from the field and 5 of 5 from the free-throw line for the Hornets (8-9, 1-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Robert Smith scored 21 points while going 7 of 10 (5 for 7 from 3-point range). Ponce James went 6 of 7 from the field (3 for 3 from 3-point range) to finish with 16 points.

The Bulldogs (8-10, 2-1) were led by Omar Croskey with 18 points. Mitchel Taylor scored 16 and Davion Everett had 11 points
