Bill Clinton dropped by the Dallas Cowboys’ pre-draft press conference. Here’s what he said.

DALLAS — You never know what’s going to happen at a Jerry Jones news conference, and he has the presidents to prove it. 

Right after the Dallas Cowboys’ pre-draft press conference began, Jerry Jones interrupted a question from the Dallas Morning News to announce, “President Clinton is coming through the door right here, he’s coming up here to say hello to us.”

Sure enough, WFAA’s camera panned to see former President Bill Clinton making his way into the press room. When Clinton arrived, Jones made his way over to the former president, hindered by a slight stumble — caused by excitement, of course, he said. 

“He’s been a wonderful, not only president, but friend over the years, and I’m really happy to have you here today,” Jones said.

Jones reminisced on his post-Super Bowl visits to the White House in 1993 and 1994. Apparently, when Jones went to greet him, Clinton had the entire roster for the national-championship-winning Arkansas Razorbacks memorized and recited it to Jones unprepared.

The stroll down memory lane also included Jones’ career as a 185-pound guard. 

“It’s a different world,” Clinton said. If Jones tried to take the field in today’s college games, he’d be the “late Jerry Jones,” Clinton joked.

The appearance served as an unintentional reminder that seven presidential terms have passed since the Cowboys last won a Super Bowl, a streak Jones undoubtedly hopes to break with this upcoming draft class and ensuing free agency period.

Lucky for the Cowboys, Clinton quipped, he’s “interested in negotiating a draft” maybe bringing some ’90s nostalgia victories to the 2026 team.

The draft begins Thursday, April 23, and runs through Saturday, April 25, in Pittsburgh, with thousands of fans expected to attend in person and millions more tuning in from home.
