GASTONIA, N.C. β The Gastonia Ghost Peppers signed former major league pitcher Jimmie Sherfy for the 2025 season, the club announced Friday.Β
Sherfy, a 2013 draft pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks, last appeared in MLB in 2021 as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He also pitched for the San Francisco Giants during his major league career.Β
The 33-year-old reliever made his MLB debut in 2017 with the Diamondbacks, pitching 10 scoreless innings in 11 appearances. He posted a 1.65 ERA in 15 games the next season. This will be his second stint with Gastonia’s baseball team, having pitched for the team in 2022.Β
Sherfy was a part of the Staten Island FerryHawks last season, posting a 6.91 ERA in 14 games. He struck out 16 batters in 14 innings.Β
