Marc Freeman is the co-founder of fashion label Camilla and Marc. Ahead, he shares how he builds variety into a monochromatic wardrobe, his latest (and ancient) fashion discovery, and the big-ticket item on his wish list.
Iβd describe my style as tailored, urban, considered and relaxed.
The most recent addition to my wardrobe is a pair of Jacques Marie Mage βFelliniβ sunglasses. The oldest piece is an antique gold box-chain fob necklace passed down from my mother.
On a plane, I wear black cashmere with a jacket and New Balance sneakers. For a nice dinner, itβs Jil Sander pants, a black T-shirt and a Prada jacket. On the red carpet it would be a Tom Ford tuxedo, bow-tie and black leather Dior lace-ups.
My favourite designers are Raf Simons β his 1998 βBlack Palmsβ collection solidified an amazing identity for his brand and what heβs doing now alongside Miuccia [Prada] is redefining Prada. And Dior, specifically Hedi Slimaneβs 2001 Dior Homme collection for the sharp tailoring, and Kim Jonesβ design-code reboot for the brand in 2018.

My fragrance of choice is βBottega Venetaβ by Bottega Veneta. It was released in 2011 but is now discontinued, so itβs becoming a memory.
Three essential items in my wardrobe are black Wardrobe.NYC T-shirts, a tailored merino wool pant from Jil Sander, and a Prada blazer. The shoes I wear most are black Maison Margiela MM6 x Salomon βCross Highβ sneakers.
My go-to jewellery is a signet ring I recently sourced from an antique dealer in Paris. Itβs a Roman green jasper ring from the first to second century AD. Next on my wish list are a 1977 Patek Philippe βEllipseβ watch and a Jaguar E-Type Series 1 from 1968 in silver grey, though thatβs not an essential fashion item.
Iβm drawn to pieces that feel intentional but simple. Fabrication, fit and form are important to me. I tend to wear a lot of black, white and grey and I would never wear anything floral. Iβm more about timeless pieces I can rely on rather than anything trend-driven, but I am fascinated by pop culture.

I canβt recall a favourite outfit I wore as a child, but I have a memory of my impeccably dressed grandparents taking us to the Brandenburg Orchestra. My grandfather was dapper in a well-tailored suit and my grandmother wore a beautiful dress and jewellery. I remember thinking they looked like they were from another time.
My most memorable fashion moment was when we sent our first [Camilla and Marc] collection down the runway at Australian Fashion Week in Sydney in 2004. It was the inception of our brand and it was extremely well received.
My favourite fashion icon is my sister, Camilla. Her mix of masculine and feminine, tailoring and timelessness, makes her the Camilla and Marc woman.
On a typical working day, I wear a heavyweight T-shirt with a tech pant such as a Prada βRe-Nylonβ pant, or a Jil Sander drawstring pant, and a sneaker. Iβll add a well-cut blazer for something more polished. For weekend brunch with the family, itβs the same, but Iβll swap the blazer for our new Camilla and Marc windbreaker β itβs lightweight and comfortable.
