It’s the second time in recent weeks that an event was impacted by the facility’s leaking roof.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. β The USA Curling National Championships were delayed on Thursday due to a roof leak at Bojangles Coliseum.Β
USA Curling announced that Thursday’s 10 a.m. session was postponed and the leak is expected to delay or postpone the afternoon session, too. Games that are not played Thursday will be rescheduled with a revised draw, according to USA Curling.Β
This is the second time a roof leak at Bojangles Coliseum impacted an event. A Charlotte Checkers game on Feb. 15 was rescheduled due to an unsafe playing surface. A Checkers spokesperson said a contractor started roof repairs immediately to seal the leak. It’s unclear if Thursday’s leak was part of those repairs.Β
In a later update, USA Curling said the leak issue had been addressed. The 2 p.m. session was played at 3 p.m., and the 7 p.m. session will go on as planned.
The 10 a.m. session for Thursday will now be played at 8 p.m. on Friday.
Friday’s 9 a.m. session will now be played an hour earlier at 8 a.m., while the 2 p.m. session will now be played at noon. The 7 p.m. session for Friday will now be played at 4 p.m.
